Eddie Trunk Interview
When it comes to flying the flag for classic hard rock and heavy metal, nobody flies it higher and prouder than Eddie Trunk. He has become the king of metal media, with That Metal Show on TV, radio shows on both terrestrial and satellite stations, a popular website, and now a book. Eddie Trunk's Essential Hard Rock and Heavy Metal has just been released.

Retro Recommendation: Cannibal Corpse - Eaten Back To Life
Every Friday I turn the blog over to Dan Marsicano for his Retro Recommendation, giving you a chance to learn about underrated and overlooked gems from metal's past. This week, Cannibal Corpse is in the spotlight.
Cannibal Corpse has always been reliable when it comes to punishing death metal with violent undertones. They are also one of the top-selling death metal bands of all time. Hell, what other band could make the Billboard charts with an album cover featuring maggots coming out of a decrepit man (1996's Vile)? Before the band shocked the mainstream, they were a small Florida act looking for a big break. Metal Blade gave it to them with their 1990 debut Eaten Back To Life, which would begin a long-standing relationship between the label and the band that is still ongoing, as of early 2011.
...Vintersorg Interview
Andreas "Vintersorg" Hedlund is in so many different bands you almost need a scorecard to keep up. Probably his best known group is Borknagar, but he's also in several others, including his namesake band Vintersorg. Jordpuls is the latest release from the folk/progressive metal band. Hedlund gets us up to speed on Vintersorg's new one along with updates from his other projects and his musical beginnings.
...Artillery - My Blood Review
The eleven tracks on My Blood showcase both the strengths and weaknesses of the band, and probably go a long way to explaining why Artillery has never really succeeded in climbing the next rung on the ladder. In terms of musicality, there is little to fault. Everyone in Artillery knows their way round their instrument and the riffs of twin guitarists Michael and Morten Stutzer are suitably concise and catchy. Too often though, the sum of the individual parts fails to add up to anything out of the ordinary.
